The Party I photographed on 11/14/2009 at the Luxe Lounge

Every now and then I'll do some work for my buddy, artist Taqiy Muhammad. His latest venue, "The Black Party", and art show was held on the 14 of November, at the Luxe Lounge here in philadelphia. He asked me to come thru, and shoot it, and I did. Well, the theme was wear black, and folks did. But, it all adds up,..Niteclub,..all black attire,..sisters hear about it, out come the barely there, hey did you see that?,...damn look at that sister over there,..outfits. I'm not complaining trust me, its just kinda funny to see the "show" within the "show"..and me being Mr.Photographer, gets to capture it all. But seriously, it was a good nite, business wise made some connects, and got some great images as well. But i might add,..alot of folks called me the next day saying they couldn't get onto my website to see there photos. Hmmm,. I was concerned about that, but then a friend made me realize something. People are so used to using their "search field" in there browsers, that they forget about their "address field". Folks...Im going give you Internet 101,....when someone gives you a website address, it's just like them giving you an address to get to their house. its direct. this is where I am at. No need to search. Now,..that address is to be put in your "address field" which normally is at the very top of your internet explorer page. Go on,..minimize this window for a sec,.. and open a new window, you'll see it right on the very top. Now,..do you see the space there,..good. Now there is a series of letters and back slashes there,..this is called an "url" and it always starts off as  http://  remember that,  Http://  got it?  good. Now, folks you only use a search,..to search. ?. right? ok, so there is NO need to"search", if you have the "address",..because the address will do what? (not everyone yell, out the answer please,.. raise your hands)  Riiiight...the address or the url will take you directly to the site. Whew,....and I hated grade school. So folks,.. my website is,...http://my.photoshelter.com/tonytayloreventphoto  thats it. just like that. The tonytayloreventphoto is all one word (which i know alot of you meesed that up too) Ok Guys?

Got it? good, Now here are some images from the party.

Darnit.....

...I was supposed to get some shots on my little trip to nevada, but it turned out to be more work, and no shooting. damnit. Oh well, so it goes. I recently did some work on a image of mine, and i am very pleased with the outcome. "Rosa Negra" came out of me wanting to do something very dark, forbodding, but also elegant. I choose a rose. I guess your saying to yourself, A ROSE?? well I like to be unconventional. So I took this beautiful, red rose,..on the end of its life span, and I mythologized her. I gave her a soul, albeit a dark one, and the forbodding edge I was looking for. Thanks to my friend Nancy Davila for helping me with translating some english to spanish.............. I have always liked looking at water fountains, I dont know why,..it think it has something to do with the water, and how it dances in certain light. I can remember my mother taking me and my brother for walks along the boardwalk at the pier on New jersey avenue, I was no more than 3 or 4,and  there was this fountain there. I was mesmarized by it. (Thinking of my mother now, she's no longer with us) Anyhow, in my photographic career, I always tried to recapture that thrill, that image of the dancing water. My newest addition to my quest. This is the Multple-jet, mini fountain at the Comcast Center in center city philadelphia.......

The Gavel

On one of my recent trips to "Image Rich" Columbus, I came across this unusual, giant, metal, gavel, which was anchored in the middle of this spacious water fountain and granite monument outside of this courthouse. It stood out so much because of its placement, and how the light just lit this monolithic structure in such a special way. I had to shoot it. I think I was drooling a little. I was thinking of the different ways I could shoot this work of art. I was in heaven. Afterwards, I looked up the origin of this piece, and I found the artist who created the piece.(click the post title for the link to the artist) the final product I will display pretty soon, a art gallery owner/friend of mine will showcase it, and I'll keep you posted. But in the mean time, I've posted one of the images I didn't use. Enjoy.

Walkabout....

I normally do this thing I call my "Walkabout". I grab some gear, pick a place, and I just walk thru it. sometimes it takes all day. It's theraputic. And it's where I'am at my most creative. I recently traveled to Columbus, Ohio, where I captured some great imagery.
